BLIND LADY
ALE HOUSE

Established in 2009

Blind lady Ale House is one of San Diego’s original indie beer bars and a pioneer in the Farm to Pizza movement in San Diego. When BLAH opened it was named by Draft Magazine as one of the 100 Best Beer Bars in America over & over each year, appeared on Food Network’s Food Paradise, and featured in countless national and regional publications as a must visit for the up & coming San Diego beer scene. In 2010 BLAH became the first licensed brewery in Uptown San Diego and one of San Diego’s earliest “nano” breweries. For years BLAH’s food practices, beer program and attention to quality and sustainability landed it on the Eater Essential 38. We believe OG businesses like ours have continued to be essential to the indie food & beverage scene because of an unwaivering commitment to these practices. Over the years future business owners have held meetings in the space, reviewed blueprints, concepted menus and planmed their own food & beverage ventures at these tables. It feels good to be that spot that has been the launching pad for so many good things.

Speaking of launching…..

About 2 years after opening BLAH, the concept of TIGER!TIGER! was born out of a one- night-only sandwich event where Socheth, one of our very first employees, introduced us to the future Pork Belly Bahn mi. T!T! opened on El Cajon Blvd (off 30th Street) back when the area was know as “The Dark Zone” when there were no street lights and the neighborhood was known for its strip bars, pawn shops and cheap rents. Immediately after opening T!T! was named one of America’s 100 Best Beer Bars, was featured in Sunset Magazine, was on the Eater Essential 38, and showcased on both Food Paradise and Diners Drive-ins & Dives. Sadly, T!T! closed down during COVID lockdowns and was unable to re-open due to lease problems and financial issues.

In 2014 Panama 66 opened at The San Diego Museum of Art in Balboa Park. This seemed like a crazy leap for the owners of a couple “beer bars,” but The Museum was open to making a change and offering food & drink that would appeal to a broader local and tourist market. P66 is now a hub in Balboa Park serving endless glasses of SD Indie Beer, countless cocktails and plate after plate of regionally sourced food. P66 has also been named San Diego’s Best Jazz Venue multiple years, one of the cities Best Patios, and Best New Bars.

BEACHWOOD / BLENDERY EVENT
Be Who We Will (2023)
A blend of one and two-year-old spontaneous barrels refermented with strawberry leaves
In Collaboration with our friends at Alt Brau, this is Bottle & keg conditioned 6 months. Soft aromas of hay, grass, mint and a sweet fruitiness lead the way into flavors of strawberries, fresh herbs and earthy funk. The texture is dry and slightly tannic with a unique drying acidity and long fruity finish. Blend Age:12-25 months ABV 6.4%
Be Well (2023)
Belgian-style sour ale spontaneously Fermented and Aged in Oak Barrels with Mcintosh Apples, Chamomile & Honey
A blend of spontaneous barrels refermented with New York McIntosh apples, chamomile and local wildflower honey, then bottle conditioned for 6 months. Aromas of chamomile, apples, hay, and floral honey notes are perfectly integrated while each ingredient being simultaneously discernable. The flavor is of warming chamomile tea, crisp apples and finishing with a honey sweetness and light earthiness. This beer has a very light acidity, crisp apple tartness and light body making very drinkable and satisfying. ABV 6.4

We Are Who We Pretend To Be (2021)
Gueuze-inspired sour ale. Blend of 1, 2, and 3 year old barrels
This is our fourth three-year blend of spontaneous beer! The 2021 blend consists of nine oak barrels ranging from 16 to 41 months old, with average blend age of 20 months old. Blending this beer each year is one of our favorite things to do and gives us a chance to apply the experience and knowledge accumulated over the last few years and focus it into a single blend. The aroma is complex with earthy funk, earth, hay, apricot, apple and light oak. Flavors of overripe stone fruit, aged hops, funk, slightly salty minerality that is supported by a pleasing acidity balanced by a medium body and touch of bitterness. ABV 5.8
Umeboshi
Belgian-style sour ale fermented and aged in oak barrels with plums and sea salt
Lambic-inspired base beer refermented in oak barrels with 2.5lb/gal Black Splendor plums and Bamboo Jade sea salt for two months and bottle conditioned for 6 months. The aroma of this beer is very fruity with notes of berry, oak, plum skins and subtle notes of jasmine. The flavor is juicy plums and dark berries, subtle savory salty notes, subtle oak, and lambic-inspired funk and a touch of acid on the back of the palate. ABV 6.5
Rose Splendor
Belgian-Style Sour Ale Fermented and Aged in Oak Barrels with Pinot Grigio juice, Candy Snaps grapes, raspberries, and blueberries
Lambic inspired base beer refermented in oak barrels with Pinot Grigio juice, Candy Snaps grapes, raspberries & blueberries and bottle conditioned for 6 months. This is the first time we’ve packaged a beer using grape juice rather than whole grapes. The result is a beer that has a crisp dry texture and less tannins but maintains the aroma and flavor of the grapes. The aroma of this beer is very fruit with notes of pear, apple, raspberry, floral notes, spun sugar and white wine. The flavor is very reminiscent of sparkling wine with crisp fruity apple notes with fresh raspberry undertones, blueberry skins, pleasant acidity and a touch of oak and alcohol warmth. ABV 8.4
Come in Grape, Your Time is Up (Chianti)
Belgian-Style Sour Ale Fermented and Aged in Oak Barrels with Sangiovese & Syrah Grapes
A blend of 12-16 month old Lambic-inspired base beer was blended and refermented on fresh Sangiovese & Syrah grape must for three months then bottle and keg conditioned for another 8 months. This blend has pleasant aromas of berries, oak, cherries, earthiness and spice and the flavor follows the aroma with vinous raspberry and cherry, oak spice and light earthy funk. This sparkling wine grape beer has a soft pleasant acidity, grippy tannins and a warming dry fruity finish. ABV 9.2
Careful with that Apricot, Eugene
Belgian-Style sour ale fermented and aged in oak barrels with apricotsOne of the great things about being in California is the abundance of fresh locally farmed stone fruit. This year we brought in over 2000 lbs of fresh Apricots and added them to our lambic-inspired base beer at a ratio of 3 lbs per gallon to create Careful With That Apricot, Eugene. Bursting with bright fruity flavors and aromas, this beer tastes like biting straight into a freshly picked Apricot. Pleasant acidity and mouth watering juiciness is followed up by our house funk create a bold experience, leaving you craving more. ABV 6.5

THE DROWNED LANDS
The Drowned Lands (Warwick, NY) is a farm brewery founded as a homage to the dirt on which it is built. It is a culmination of years of exploration and inspiration from the land. The beer they create takes its cues from the richest soil in the country – connected to both time and place – inspired by old world techniques and modern innovation.
The intention of Drowned Lands is to make exceptional craft beer that expresses the native mineral profile of their water, the seasonality of their local agriculture, the imparting taste of the local microbes in their house mixed-culture – to express the “is-ness” of their land and share it with all of you..
SPRING TERRA
Brewed with pilsner malt, oats, and raw wheat. Hopped with Citra, Mosaic, and Hallertau Blanc. We fermented this beer drier than most NE-style DIPAs and the resulting profile is bright, dank, and juicy, with a refreshing tingle of alcohol that leaves one craving another sip. 8.2%

We're tasting fresh sliced peaches, hastily unwrapped orange starbursts, sauvignon Blanc grapes, and the gentle tang of under-ripe blueberries.
SILENT STARS
IPA brewed with pilsner malt, malted spelt, raw wheat, and oats, hopped in the whirlpool and DH exclusively with Citra. We love how our all-citra Triple IPA came out so we decided to dial back the ABV and showcase just what Citra can really do when it's allowed to shine. This beer has an absolutely gorgeous pale yellow haze and is as bright and juicy as they come. 6.8%

We're tasting orange zest, drippy summer peach, juicy melon, and a handful of orange and pink starbursts.
RIVER BIRCH
Foeder-fermented Pilsner brewed with Weyermann Pilsner Malt and a touch of Weyermann Vienna, hopped with German hops for a floral and spicy balance. 5.1%
We're tasting grassy lemon pitch, a particularly oaky pile of straw, a mellifluous bouquet of summer flowers, and that little burst of citrus oil you get when peeling an orange.
PHOTINIA
This beer starts with a heavy amount of 2 Row and choice amounts golden malts before letting this Belgian Golden Strong Ale condition over what are basically the ingredients to a pecan pie. Brown sugar, vanilla, crushed pecans and cinnamon are just some of the ingredients used to build this decadent beers dessert profile! 11%
We’re tasting a fresh slice of pecan pie made at home sitting next to a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
TEN ACRES: COFFEE
The main conditioning property of course being coffee from our friends across the Hudson, Big Mouth Coffee of Beacon, NY, a premium roaster of fine coffee that we at Drowned Lands have become big fans of. We’ve also let the beer rest upon fresh vanilla bean, a bit of cinnamon as well as some milk sugar to give this hairbender of a beer a full bodied coffee taste and feel. It’s all at once decant, delicious and deep in flavors of a perfectly pulled espresso with just the right amount of toffee cream. 9% Imperial Stout.
MILIEU
Belgian Tripel brewed with Pilsner malt and a touch of oats. Whirlpooled with grains of paradise and white peppercorn. Fermented with an expressive Belgian yeast and then conditioned in one of our foeders. 9%
Spice, prickly pear, champagne grapes.
AMAI
Foeder-fermented Belgian Dark Strong Ale. Brewed with the finest Belgian pilsner malt, rounded out by a supporting cast of Belgian biscuit, munich, caramunich, and Belgian Dark Candi Syrup, hopped with Zuper Saaz. 10.8%
